Wear Your Baby

I have talked about baby wearing before and I am all too happy to be able to do it again. I believe so strongly in it.

Our babies need contact, comfort and security. Wearing them provides them that and also affords the wearer flexibility.

I can honestly say that I don't know how I could possibly get anything done around here without wearing my baby girl.

Speaking of. Check her out here in my Sleepy Wrap Organic :)

She has grown way too fast (she's nearly 5 months!) She loved it when she was smaller and she loves it still :) Look at that smile!

So what's so great about the Sleepy Wrap Organic? Well, for starters it's made from organic cotton. It comes in two beautiful neutral shades. Natural and Khaki (Mine is the Natural and I love it.)

It is so soft and it also has some stretch to it. What's so great about the stretch is that it makes it *so* easy to use. There is no guess work involved in trying to make sure you have enough slack in the fabric to put your baby into it. It really makes the process easy.

I just wrap it up so that it fits snug to me, but w/out stretching it... if that makes sense. Then I tie it. All of the instructions I see on wrapping carriers have you do it in the front or back. I prefer to tie mine on the side :) I find it to be the most comfortable and out of the way.

Here's a great video I found for how to put it on :)

So why wear your baby?
Babies that are worn:

Cry Less! (43% less overall and 54% less during the evening hours)1
Are Healthier! (gain weight faster, have better motor skills, coordination, increased muscle tone, and sense of balance)2
Get a better view of the world! (babies pushed in strollers or carried around in car seats only get to see the adult world at knee-level)
Become Independent Faster! (making them more confident and less clingy)3
Sleep Better! (they fall asleep quicker and sleep for longer periods of time)
Learn More! (not overstimulated, but calm and alert, observing the world around them)
And are just plain Happier!4

Carrying your baby also:

Creates confident parents - there's no better feeling than when your baby is calm and content because you have met all her needs (Sometimes that moment of silence is everything!)
Allows you to safely move about with your baby regardless of terrain - you can stroll down uneven sidewalks, narrow lanes, walk up stairs, or climb mountain
Is convenient - there is no awkwardness like when carrying a heavy plastic car seat with one arm!
Enables better communication between you and your baby - (without your baby having to cry!) as you become attuned to her facial expressions and other gestures
Provides security - access to food, warmth, and love
Is good for your soul -it encourages you to get out and get some exercise and some fresh air into your lungs
Makes discreet nursing possible - without having to find a place to sit
Helps you to interact with your other children and hold your baby close at the Same time - very practical if you have other little ones
Allows you to decide who may touch or interact with your baby
Aids digestion - the constant motion and the upright position eases acid reflux and colic
Allows you to go places, together! - you can go anywhere and feel secure.

There are so many reasons, but there are just a few. For more, check out the Sleepy Wrap site, or any babywearing information online (there is lots!)

As an adorable bonus, Sleepy Wrap also sells the most adorable little teddy bear, the Organic Sleepy Bear. This little bear is so sweet and sends a great message to any child who receives it. I think it would look adorable in a baby shower gift basket too. I want one! :) Too cute!
So how would you like to win one of the fantastic Sleepy Wrap Organics?

I would love to wear an organic wrap... LIVE GREEN! I want to wear my second baby because I didn't do that when my first son was newborn and I wish I had. I know I can still wear my son as a toddler, and I will, once I am not pregnant anymore! It is so beneficial to be so close physically to your child. I dont think you can hug and cuddle your child too much!

I definitely want to wear my baby once I am pregnant :) I want to do it because I strongly believe in all of the reasons you mentioned and would love to create a stronger bond between myself and my child! I am entering this contest, however, in hopes of winning the organic wrap for my pregnant friend who is currently trying to alter her lifestyle in order to LIVE GREEN :)

My baby is due in May and soon after birth I return to graduate school. The classes are very baby friendly but I think it would be best for both of us if I wear my little one. That way I can focus on the lecture while knowing my baby is close, and I can take care of their comfort or nursing needs.
Many of my classmates that have babies are doing the stroller pushing around thing but that is not for me, I can't imagine that much disconnection at such an early age. Then again my classmates think I'm nuts for going with cloth diapers, but I want to LIVE GREEN.

I would love to be able to wear my baby once I become pregnant and live green while doing so. The benefits of wearing a baby is so phenomenal, in my eyes. I have seen babies that have been worn by other carriers and you can see the difference in them compared to other babies that are in strollers.

I loved wearing my baby! From the time DD was a newborn up until...oh wait, I still love wearing all 23lbs of her. Now i am pregnant again and can't wear to this little peanut. I love the closeness and bonding it fosters AND that it frees up my hands to do other things. Which will be essential for chasing an active toddler around while caring for a newborn. To me "Living Green" is about love and repect for not only Mother Earth but all the people/creatures in our lives! ljotritabaugh at gmail dot com

My hubby and I are on our first pregnancy and a wrap like this makes since for our lifestyle since we do a lot to LIVE GREEN already. He is a little sad about not having the bonding experiences I will have with breastfeeding so he is eager to baby wear when we are in public. In his wrap research he wants a simple cloth that wraps and ties like yours, given the fabric you use this will be perfect for our family.

Before I forget, because I know I will: Live Green. Phew! Got that out of the way. Now, why I want to wear my baby... I want to feel that closeness with my baby. I was unable to breastfeed and though I am very closely connected with my son (who is now a year old) I would still like to add more to that connection. Plus, he's not walking yet and to have my hands free to do other things when he just doesn't want to be down on the ground would be wonderful!

This would be a great item to have in my home. I'm the mom of 6 wonderful kids and my youngest wants me all the time. I can't put her down and would LOVE a sleepy wrap! I have another carrier with straps and buckles and such. She hates it. I hate it. I am constantly on the go taking care of my other 5 kids, 2 nephews and the other child I babysit and I don't want to sacrifice my bonding time with her. Plus I just want to vacuum!

In order to LIVE GREEN we walk as many places as possible. Babywearing and a comfortable sling are essential to make that happen!

I love wearing my baby. Not only does it make him feel safe and secur, I LOVE having him so close yet. By wearing him, I can continue to run around after my other LO. I also love that you can discreetly nurse!

Go Green!

I want one of these so badly! I don't drive (by choice, I haven't had my license revoked or anything!), so I spend a lot of time on public transportation. Sometimes craming just myself on the bus is difficult, I don't want to try to cram a stroller on there with me all the time as well.

It might be a Live Green ideal, but it's darned practical as well!

I have a 4 month old and a 6 yr old (he has ADHD & developmental delays). Baby wearing is a must for me to go out with both of my children. I can hold my son's hand and make sure he's close at bay and have my little guy on my chest. I love the sleepy wrap and I love the natural color, too!! I wish they would have been around when my 6 yr old was born!! Thanks for the chance!!

OH AND LIVE GREEN!!!!!!!!!!
