Girly gift idea!

I have two little girls, my oldest being nearly 3 and as girly as they get.  She loves all that Mommy has and wants some of her own.  Late last year I introduced you to Piggy Paint, a fantastic company that offers safe nail polishes for little girls (and moms too).  I was recently contacted about their new Piggy Paint Project Earth line of polishes that feature fun neon (even glowing!) colors targeted at eco-conscious tweens.  These colors are vibrant and feature quirky names like 'LOL', 'The Boyfriend Blues' and 'Eat Your Peace' - to name a few.

I love the line of Piggy Paint products so much.  I use it on myself exclusively (as well as my girls) as well as for gifts.  It makes such a fun gift and I know that it's introducing something safe.  Piggy Paints water based polishes and safe remover do not the awful chemicals found in traditional polishes and removers - like formaldehyde, toluene, phthalates, biphenyl A, ethyl acetate and acetone - making Piggy Paint as "natural as mud".  As a great big added bonus, Piggy Paint products are made in the USA!

Piggy Paints make a great gift, either as a stand alone gift (check out the gift sets!) of fun stocking stuffer.  Speaking of stocking stuffers!  Piggy Paint wants to give one of you a chance to try their polish by offering the chance to win a $15 gift card!  I'm going to run this until noon tomorrow (12 Noon - EST - December 24th), so be sure to enter right away!  I want to give you time to add a note to your little lady's stocking saying that she can pick out her very own Piggy Paint!  How's that for a last minute gift idea!

If you see something you like, feel free to use code: splash15l (lowercase L) for 15% off!  This won't expire until December 31, 2011.  Thanks Piggy Paint!

Well hello Sir.

My husband is what I would consider a 'manly man'.  When it comes to finding manly and safer body products the selection out there is rather limited.  I was asking for product recommendations one day when someone piped up and said "Every Man Jack".  Hmm..  Well it sure sounds manly.  I have been toying around with the idea of getting some for my husband, he's quite particular and being unable to find it locally, I was unsure of the scents.  When I was given the chance to try it out, I jumped at it.  I was thrilled to have an option to share with you for the men in your family.  Every Man Jack contains no parabens, sodium lauryl sufate or dyes and is not tested on animals.

To get started, let's talk scent.  Getting a masculine scent is a concern for my husband, so I imagine that it is for others.  Every Man Jack offers their body wash in Signature Mint, Cedarwood & Citrus Scrub.  Several of their other products even come in a scent free option.  I have to admit that the mint gave me some concern (I'm always concerned that scents will be too strong), but upon arrival I got to sniffing and I can say for certain that it is indeed a mild and pleasant scent.  I have not personally used it, but I imagine that it would be rather invigorating in the shower.  I do have a minty body wash of my own and love it.  I want to note that the scented items do contain "fragrance"which is a bit of concern as I would prefer that to be better defined.

Something that I really love about the Every Man Jack line of products is that they offer a lot.  They offer shampoos, conditioners, body washes, hair styling products, shaving supplies, facial cleansers, lotions - even lip balm.  The point is, that if your man is like mine, he wants everything to smell alike - or at the very least not clash.   Every Man Jack delivers when it comes to that, for sure.

I know it's silly, but I also love the packaging.  It's simple, manly - but not trying too hard.  It looks nice on the counter and in the shower.  The bottles are also clearly marked for recycling.

For review I was sent a great package deal that is being offered by Every Man Jack.  They have DIY kits for $25 that is a $50 value - including your choice on a variety of products including a hair product, body product, facial cleanser, shave cream (or gel) & facial lotion.  This all comes packaged in your choice of a gym bag or toiletry bag.  I love the toiletry bag.  I think it's perfect for taking on trips.

Thanks to Every Man Jack, one of you will be able to win and give this 6 piece set to a man in your life.  If you just can't wait, Every Man Jack products are offered at Target stores nationwide (oh how I wish we had one here), Fred Meyers, Drugstore.com and Walgreens.com (I saw a few items listed as available in store!).  I think these products would make great (and useful) stocking stuffers.  I know I was very excited about giving this set to my husband.

Nurse in public?

I don't get out as much as I'd like, I admit, but when I do, I occasionally need to feed our youngest daughter.  You'd think that after nursing three babies, I would care less where I was or who knew what I was doing.  While I will nurse anywhere if I need to (thanks to laws that protect us!), I prefer to do it privately or at least where I know I won't be stared at like I have two heads.  Though I enjoy the silent statement it makes, I also like the comfort of accepting surroundings.

Thanks to Bravado, there is now (as they say) an app for that!  If you are a nursing mom on-the-go, you can use the new Breastfeeding Friendly Locator on your smartphone.  Just go to mobile.bravadodesigns.com to find a location near you or add your favorite spots!
If you are like me and don't have a smartphone you can still use this app before you head to town.  I like the link above, or you can go here.

Comfy Mommy

As a nursing mother I find it hard to come by bras that I like for comfort, let alone any that look good too.  Earlier this year I wrote to you about my favorite bra, the Bravado Bliss.  I have been so happy with this bra.  I routinely choose it over all of my other bras, so much so that I now own two to alternate.  When Bravado offered me the chance to try the Body Silk Seamless, I couldn't wait.  The fact that it came in a fun berry color made it all the more enticing.

When I first looked at the Body Silk Seamless, I was hesitant.  It is a soft structured bra.  As you may recall, I was an underwire loving girl - that it until the Bliss proved me wrong and showed me that a non underwire can give support, shape and comfort.  With that in mind, I dove into trying out the Body Silk.

The Body Silk is made of a soft stretchy material.  While it is giving and form fitting, it offers supportive, thick channels around the band and around the cup area, giving it shape without losing comfort.  In addition to being a soft cup, the Body Silk has pockets inside each cup that contain removable molded foam cups.  I used these for a while at first, but on the larger bra size, I find that they could be larger to provide enough coverage.  I don't find that the bra loses anything by not having these cups in place, though they are great for hiding nursing pads.

I'd also love to note is how much I love the Berry Burst color that this is available in (in addition to Ivory, Black & Butterscotch).  It is such an adorable color.  It complements several of my night clothes and when I hop into bed I feel 'cute', which is a nice confidence booster.

Like many nursing mothers, I wear a larger cup size and I find that this bra offers enough support for me to be comfortable in.  I adore it as a sleeping bra.  It is so comfortable and perfect for lounging around, sleeping, housekeeping, etc.  For going out, I prefer my Bliss, as it offers more structure and modesty.  I have been very happy having the two of these bras for my days and nights.

Bravado! Designs has been so kind in offering one of you a chance to try out my favorite bra, the Bliss.  You are going to love this bra!  Also be sure to sign up for their newsletter for exclusive offers, breastfeeding information and more.  You can find the link on their homepage!

Teething Woes

We have three children.  We've had happy teethers and grumpy ones.  With our son, his teeth came in and no one would have been the wiser if you were paying attention just to his behavior.  It wasn't quite that easy when it came to our older daughter, and certainly not now with our youngest.  G just doesn't take to teething very well.  We spend days on end just playing with her, comforting and holding.  It doesn't really sound all that bad unless you need to go to the bathroom, shower, make dinner, take care of another child, etc.  She freaks out!  We understand completely, but it doesn't make trying to complete tasks any easier.

I had heard about using amber jewelry to ease teething pain.  I have to admit I was a little skeptic.  I wasn't sure that wearing a necklace could really help and the safety of it all had me concerned as well.

I headed over to Inspired by Finn to see what amber was all about.  They use Baltic Amber, a very special fossilized tree resin.  When this amber is worn against the skin, heat from the body unlocks and releases oils from the resin.  These oils are absorbed by your body and considered to have great healing properties.  You can read more on this at their site.

So this made sense to me.  It was similar to a topical medicine, not the cold stone like substance that I had envisioned.  Next up was my concern about putting a necklace on my baby.  I was concerned both about strangulation and choking if the beads were to come loose.  On the necklace there is a knot in the cord between each bead and it is quite sturdy.  The clasp on these is very safe.  You have the choice of a screw clasp or magnetic.  The screw clasp is non metal and is both sturdy enough to keep the necklace on your baby and giving enough to come loose with much play.  I have not tried the magnetic clasp, but I would imagine that it would also work well.

Inspired by Finn was kind enough to send me a 12 1/2 inch butter round necklace with screw clasp.  I can't begin to tell you what an immediate and wonderful difference this made with our daughter's teething issues.  When she wears the necklace during teething she has more of her natural happiness, as opposed to the times when I can't set her down no matter what I do.  She really pays no attention to the necklace.  I thought perhaps she would want to take it off, nope - she does just fine.  I do however have a 2 1/2 year old little girl that wants her own.  We'll have to see what Santa can do about that.

As I was preparing this review I heard from a woman who had also tried amber from Finn and I just had to share her story.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Submission by Nikki:
Three people in my life now had positive results with amber which has been such a pleasant surprise to me. It all started with a great promotion that Inspired by Finn was having for those that had never tried amber before. My dad has had chronic back pain for as long as I can remember. With his birthday coming up, I thought I would order him one as well as one for my little 10 month teether who was having a terrbile time of it.

Within 2 days of wearing his necklace, my dad had his first day without pain medication that he had in a very long time. He is recovering still from major back surgery so he still has bad days but he thinks his necklace has definitely helped increased his good days.

My little guy Evan has been having a much harder time teething than his older brother Eli ever did. After starting to sleep through the night around 2 months old, once the teething started he gave that up for months. Until he got his amber necklace. Since then he has been sleeping through the night again from the very first night of wearing. He has since added three more teeth, and I have really not seen any evidence of his teething other than the actual teeth.

After our quick successes with the necklaces, my mom decided to give a bracelet a try to help aid with her carpal tunnel. I've always known how much she hates wearing bracelets and now she never takes her amber bracelet off. Between the amber, chiropractic adjustments, and sleeping brace, she has had a major decrease in her tingling, numbness, and pain from her carpel tunnel.

I just can't tell you how happy I am that I found Inspired by Finn and took a chance on placing that first order. I'm working on picking out a necklace for my husband's grandmother next!

If you haven't yet had the pleasure of trying Baltic Amber, now is your chance!
Inspired by Finn has generously offered one of you the chance to win any one 16 inch or smaller, in stock amber item.  In addition to the giveaway, they have offered a great discount code.
